  1. Researchers in Mongolia have unearthed world’s largest dinosaur footprint that is nearly a size of a full grown man. 
  2.   SEBI has exempted the Central government from making an open offer to the public shareholders of Indian Overseas Bank(IOB). As a part of capital infusion into the public sector lender, the government's stake in IOB would increase by more than 5%. Under SEBI norms, acquiring more than 5% in a listed entity would trigger the obligation to make an open offer to the public shareholders.
  3. China has blocked a tributary of the Brahmaputra river in Tibet as part of the construction of its "most expensive" hydro project. The Lalho project on Xiabuqu river, a tributary of Yarlung Zangbo (the Tibetan name for Brahmaputra), in Tibet involves an investment of $740 million. China's action could cause concern in India as it may impact water flows into the lower riparian countries.
  4. Agrasen Jayanti was celebrated on 1st october. 
  5. On 1st Oct, Hurricane Matthew hit the southern Caribbean , a powerful Category 5 storm. The center of Matthew was located 80 miles northwest of Punta Gallinas, Colombia, and 440 miles southeast of Kingston Jamaica. The storm is said to be the most powerful since Hurricane Felix in 2007. 
  6.  NASA has spotted first-ever gamma ray binary in the neighbour galaxy using Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope. 
  7. Kotak Mahindra Bank has acquired BSS Microfinance . 
  8. Thailand has confirmed its first Zika case. The connection between Zika and microcephaly first came to light last year in Brazil. Zika has spread extensively in Latin America and the Caribbean since then, and more recently it has been cropping up in south-east Asia. 
  9.  China’s yuan joins an elite group of reserve currencies created by the International Monetary Fund. The yuan will become the fifth member of the IMF’Special Drawing Rights (SDR) basket of currencies. Presently SDR basket of currencies included the US dollar,euro,yen & pound. The SDR is an currency reserve created by the IMF in 1969 to promote trade,increase liquidity & supplement member countries.
  10. Toughie, the world's last Rabbs' fringe-limbed tree frog died in the Atlanta Botanical garden .
  11. Mount Colima is located in Mexico. 
  12.  The Delhi Police has launched a mobile application 'Delhi Police Senior Citizen'  for senior citizens to enable them to reach out to the police quickly in emergency situations. 
  13. On October 2, 2016 India celebrated Mahatma Gandhi's 147th birth anniversary. 
  14. The Union Finance Ministry has decided that sports infrastructure will be included under the harmonised master list of infrastructure subsectors. This inclusion would make the sports sector eligible for obtaining long-term financial support from banks & other financial institutions. This inclusion would  encourage private investment in a public good . 
  15. Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Lucie Šafářová won the 2016 Wuhan Open, they defeated Sania Mirza and Barbora Strýcová. 
  16.  Petra Kvitova won the 2016 Wuhan Open, she defeated Dominika Cibulkova.  
  17.  Infosys has announced the launch of Skava Commerce, a Silicon Valley based e-commerce startup which was acquired by Infosys. 
  18. The government's fiscal deficit in the first five months of 2016 is 76 % compared to 66% last year. 
  19. SBI's new financing scheme "Hope Loans"will allow  customers to avail credit facility at lower rates. 
  20. Multi Commodity Exchange(MCX) has bagged the ‘Best exchange of the year in bullion industry’ at the Ninth International Gold Summit and Excellence Awards.  
  21. Columbia has rejected a peace deal to end 52 years of war with FARC guerrillas.

  28.  Rajeev Sharma has taken over as the Chairman and Managing Director of state-run Power Finance Corporation.
  29. The Central government has appointed a 4 member Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) under the Chairmanship of MS Sahoo . 
  30. West Virginia University Mountaineers of Morgantown bagged the largest prize awarded in the five-year run of NASA’s Sample Return Robot Challenge.
